I would like to have some details on how wsbexchange.exe is used in the backup procedure.
I prefer to do snapshotting of the exchange db volumes with the linux virtualization environment. I have asked about this in this thread[1]
From the linux environment I can issue something like
virsh qemu-agent-command vps-test2 '{"execute":"guest-fsfreeze-freeze"}'
This invokes the vss service, upon which you can take the snapshot in the host environment. I would like to submit some feature request at redhat to implement functionality to grap exchange db volumes reliably.
For that I need to explain to them what the correct procedure is, and what guest binaries to run. The goal is of course that after taking the snapshot, exchange db are truncated and you have a good backup.
