Will EWS API ever include the ability to manage public/global groups?

I am currently working with the EWS API for managing/ working with Office 365 Mail. I read that currently we can only manage contact groups with the API. I am wondering if the feature of managing public groups will ever be a feature or if that can be enabled for specific O365 domains
